High Point Awards
Rules

All entrants, owners, lessees and riders must be current members of AHAD with all dues paid.

Entry fee is $10.00 per horse per division. All entries must be received before you attend your first show. Points earned before entry is received will not count. No substitutions and/or changes can be made without first contacting the Hi-Point Chairman once entries have been made.

No telephone entries will be accepted. All changes made after entries are received must be made in writing (no telephone changes).

Points earned for the Rated division may come from Class A, B or C rated AHSA Arabian/Half-Arabian shows. Dressage may also use AHSA/USDF recognized competitions. The non-rated division may earn points from EAAHSC, CESHS (Combine), 4-H, PVDA, schooling shows, etc. Arabian Nationals (US or Canada), Youth Nationals, Buckeye and Scottsdale shows are not included for the AHAD Hi-Point Program.

Horses must be shown in at least one show held in Delaware, Maryland or Virginia to be eligible.

Points will be calculated using the horses three best shows. If only one or two shows are attended, those points may be and are encouraged to be used. In the event of a tie, a fourth show may be used for a tie-breaker.

The shows secretary’s signature or computer print out from the show are required on each individual show sheet. Questionable points will be verified. The completed sheet must be attached to the back of the summary sheet when points are turned in at the end of the year.

It is the responsibility of the owner or lessee to have all forms to the Hi Point Chairman, with points calculated, by November 1, 2002. Any entry not postmarked by November 1, 2002 will not be accepted. The Hi Point Chairman will not be responsible for entries not received. All participants are encouraged to send their entry fee and year end results certified mail.

The Youth division will consist of those members who have not reached their 19th birthday as of January 1, 2002.

Youth entries may use their points in the youth division as well as one other division. Grooming and Showmanship points can be used in the Youth division only.

Point accumulated in “Sport Horse In-Hand” classes may only be used towards the halter divisions.

In the event a nominated horse is sold during the course of the year, the points will remain with the horse. The new owners may continue participating in the Awards Program only if they become members (if they are not a current member) and the Hi Point Chairperson must be notified at time of transfer.

Winners for each division will be awarded at the annual Awards Banquet. Awards will consist of Champion, Reserve Champion, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. Horse of the Year for Rated and Non-Rated divisions will also be awarded using total point accumulation (nomination is not required for this award). All Hi Point placings are final once announced.

Western – Any western pleasure, trail, reining, side saddle or stock seat equitation may be used.

English – Any english pleasure, park, country pleasure, side saddle, saddle seat equitation, formal or informal driving, informal or formal combination, or english trail may be used.

Hunter – any hunter pleasure, hunter over fences, show hack, hunt seat equitation

Youth – all points to count towards this division.

All divisions are open to both purebred and partbred Arabians.

To calculate points, multiply your points (according to the table above) by the number of horses in the class.
Example: 2nd place in a class of 5 horses: 5 x 5 = 25 points
